Die S-N-Kurve (W?hlerkurve) stellt das grundlegende abstrakte Konzept der Materialermüdung dar, indem sie die Beziehung zwischen der aufgebrachten Spannungsamplitude (S) und der Anzahl der Lastwechsel (N) bis zum Versagen darstellt. Sie besteht typischerweise aus einem Zeitfestigkeitsast (abfallende lineare Kurve) und einem Dauerfestigkeitsast (horizontaler Teil) und wird durch Schwellenwerttests und Stufenverfahren bestimmt. Diese Kurve wird eingesetzt, um die Dauerfestigkeit von Bauteilen und Werkstoffen zu beurteilen.
