- The scope of a maturity model is dependent on the existence of one or more process assessment model(s) that include basic and extended processes appropriate to the target businesses and organizations. If appropriate process assessment model(s) (and process reference model(s)) are not available, these need to be constructed or adapted from those identified prior to completing the maturity model. The scope declaration shall include the identification of the specified process assessment model(s) and an itemization of the processes comprising the maturity model. The processes covered by the maturity model shall be grouped according to the maturity level to which they belong.
