- This standard specifies requirements for the qualification of distributors of metallic materials used in the petroleum and natural gas industries. This standard is applicable to distributors of metallic bar, plate, and tubular products where API product standards require such services or are otherwise specified as a requirement for conformance. For organizations that manufacture and distribute metallic material, this standard only addresses the distribution portion of their processes.
