This European Standard specifies a test method for determining the resistance of adhesive joints to delamination. It is suitable for the following applications: a) assessment of compliance of adhesives with EN 301, EN 15425 and prEN 16254; b) assessment of suitability and quality of adhesives for load-bearing timber structures; c) comparison of the effects of selected gluing conditions, different climatic exposures and pretreatment and post-treatment of test specimens on bond strength. This test is not applicable to modified and impregnated wood with strongly reduced swelling and shrinkage properties, such as acetylated wood, heat-treated wood and polymer-impregnated wood. This test serves mainly to determine performance values for the classification of adhesives for load-bearing timber structures according to their suitability for use under defined climatic conditions. This method is not intended to provide design values and does not necessarily reflect the performance of the glued structural member in service.
