石漠化是在热带、亚热带湿润及半湿润气候区、岩溶发育背景下，因人类活动干扰导致植被破坏、土壤严重流失、基岩大面积裸露或砾石堆积的土地退化极端形式。其本质为水土流失引发地表生产力丧失乃至完全消失，是典型的生态荒漠化现象，常由自然与人为因素共同作用所致。
