阻燃是一种掺入材料或施用于材料表面的物质或处理工艺，可在特定条件下抑制或延缓材料表面火焰的传播。其定义为能够阻止火焰蔓延、延迟起火或降低燃烧速率的特性，表现为在撤去火源后火焰在限定范围内自行熄灭。
