芽孢杆菌是一种微生物菌种，属于芽孢杆菌属。它们是能形成芽孢（内生孢子）的杆状细菌的通称，具有休眠形式，能在不利条件下生存。本标准的芽孢杆菌主要包括：地衣芽孢杆菌、枯草芽孢杆菌、迟缓芽孢杆菌、短小芽孢杆菌、结芽孢杆菌以及侧孢短芽孢杆菌。它们可用于发酵饲料生产，是增产菌的主要来源，最适宜生长温度为28-35°C。在嗜热条件下能形成标准菌落的细菌属，主要用于动物饲料中的益生菌计数。
