相对温度指数定义为候选电气绝缘材料在该温度下估计到达终点时间与参考电气绝缘材料在其评估温度指数时估计到达终点时间相同的摄氏度值。该指数用于候选材料在已知比较EIS的TI对应的时间值下，当样品EIS和基准EIS经历相同老化和诊断程序时，样品EIS的温度指数，是评价绝缘材料热寿命的关键参数。
