生命周期模型是一个包含过程、活动和任务的框架，涉及软件产品的开发、运行和维护，跨越从需求定义到终止使用的系统生命周期。通常软件系统的生命周期可分为五个阶段：可行性研究与规划、系统需求分析、系统设计、系统实施及测试、系统运行与维护。该模型也可用于描述协作关系从建立到终止的八个阶段，并可作为沟通和理解的共同参考框架。
