木材基材指作为涂层承载体的特定定义的、精心选择的室外用木材板，通常为云杉。用于测试木材防腐剂效果的木材样本，以及在涂装测试中的实木和木质复合材料表面。本国际标准中，标准测试基材为欧洲赤松的边材，也可使用其他木材种类或改性木材作为替代。
