整理指为获得特定性能结果而对织物进行的化学或机械修改，或两者兼有。该过程在介质存在下，通过机械和化学作用使织物获得特殊特性，如增白、增硬、抗菌等。具体包括防皱、防缩、易去污、易护理及抗静电等后处理工艺；同时，整理也指对归档文件进行组件、分类、排列、编号、编目等（纸质文件还涉及修整、装订、编页、装盒、排版；电子文件包括格式转换、元数据收集、归档数据包组织、存储等），使其有序化的过程。
