插入衰减是在对称或不对称测试电路中，将滤波器接入电路前后在端子上测得的电压之比。在电磁兼容测试中，它表示信号通过测试装置或天线对时的功率损失度量，用于计算天线因子。也指插入电缆或带端接电缆后产生的总衰减，定义为发射机直接连接时的功率与插入电缆后功率之比的对数（dB）。
