二甲酚橙是一种化学试剂，通常为带黄的红色至带红的紫色粉末，易溶于水。常用作金属离子指示剂（尤其螯合滴定分析，如铅、锌、镉、钯等）以及酸碱指示剂。作为显色剂与铅、钷等形成橙色-红色络合物，采用分光光度法测定。在约0.5mol/L高氯酸介质中与钪生成橙红色络合物，可用于分光光度测定。也可应用于pH 5.2-5.5条件下与铅的测定。其标准物质包括酸及四钠盐等形态。
